Have you ever thought about meditation as something only level 5000 yoga instructors or Buddhist monks practice? Today's guest, Ariel Garten (@ariels_musings), is here to enlighten us all about not just best practices when it comes to meditation but also the true science behind what goes in our brain and the myriad of benefits it can bring our everyday lives!

Ariel is a co-founder of Muse: the brain sensing headband. Muse is the award-winning headband that makes meditation easier. During guided exercises, Muse senses your brain activity and sends that information to your phone or tablet, giving you real time audio feedback to help take the guesswork out of meditation.

Ariel studied neuroscience at the University of Toronto and worked in labs at Toronto’s Krembil Neuroscience Centre researching Parkinson’s disease and hippocampal neurogenesis. No mere science nerd, Ariel is a fashion designer whose clothing opened Toronto Fashion Week in '03, and has had her work displayed at the Art Gallery of Ontario. Ariel’s uncommon combination of science and art is integral to the design of Muse and to InteraXon’s unique approach to brain sensing technology. Ariel was also a therapist in private practice.

Ariel and her team are merging technology, neuroscience, art and design. As well as her full time position at Muse, Ariel keynotes around the world on technology, mindfulness and entrepreneurship and supports and advises a variety of start-ups.

Time to "translate complex concepts into leverage for your goals" with Sam Miller! Sam shares not only how bringing more attention to possible hormone imbalances may be negatively affecting your goals, but also his varying path of jobs and credentials that led him to his current endeavors. Like so many of us, finding our calling, our passion, our niche in the health and fitness industry can be daunting. But once you figure out what you don't want to do it makes finding what you do want much more possible!

Sam's company, Oracle, was created when he was working with one of his clients. The client, Chris, was fond of the term and began using it as a nickname for Sam due to his ability to rely on him to explain complex science, training, and nutritional concepts. This is when Oracle Athletic Science and Oracle Training & Nutrition were conceived.

Find Sam on Instagram @sammillerscience or visit https://www.OracleFitness.com to learn more about his coaching and training programs.

Thom King is not your typical CEO. Part chief executive officer, part personal development wonk, and part biohacker info geek, Thom is a self-confessed serial entrepreneur.

While his favorite book list contains many success-oriented and personal-development classics, the classic definition of achieving success (e.g. make a lot of money) is not what inspires or motivates King. He follows more of a “you aren’t doing well unless you’re also doing some good” line of thinking. King’s company has been built around the simple principle of “do the right thing.”

Founded by King in 1999, Stevia Brands Inc. is one of the largest importers, manufacturers and distributors of clean-label sweetening systems and natural sweeteners.

Grab Thom's new book "Guy Gone Keto" on Amazon here https://amzn.to/2OjSpuk and make sure to visit https://www.guygoneketo.com for the latest keto-friendly recipes and products!

Get ready to laugh out loud today! Guest Anna Vocino makes her living as a stand-up comedian and voice-over actor. She can be heard in promo campaigns for TGIT on ABC, Nickelodeon, Fox Sports, Cartoon Network, and The Tennis Channel, plus hundreds of TV and radio spots. Her most important work as of late is her cookbook "Eat Happy - gluten free, grain free, low carb recipes for a joyful life".

Celiac and gluten free since 2002, she began a blog to recreate gluten free versions of comfort food favorites from her half Italian, half Southern-girl heritage. In 2012, Anna partnered with the inimitable Vinnie Tortorich to co-host and produce The Angriest Trainer Podcast, and her recipes these days are mostly free from sugars and grains—the Vinnie term is NSNG—No Sugars No Grains. Using the freshest ingredients whenever possible, and she keeps things simple.

Welcome back to yet another experience from the Ever Forward Coach mentorship! Today we hear from our first guest speaker, Amanda Bucci, @amandabucci, back in January of 2018. Amanda is a world-class social media influencer, athlete (bikini and powerlifting), multiple business owner, entrepreneur and so much more. She shares her biggest obstacles and lessons learned when she decided to go all in on her goals; fears, limiting beliefs, successes, and even feedback on the visions of this group of budding entrepreneurs choosing to live a life ever forward.

Take careful note of the group at this time; everyone was just beginning to develop their biggest goal of 2018, what their passion was, what type of impact they wanted to create in their lives and the lives of their communities. They chose to take action on those goals and work on themselves and with this group to build the future they wanted. We have come so far this year and are just weeks away from achieving their most important work!

If this type of accountability, insight, and mentorship resonates with you and feel compelled to learn more make sure to email us directly at chase@everforwardradio.com - we look forward to learning more about putting a purpose to your passion!

More often than not, on the road to enlightenment or self-discovery or hell... just trying to be a decent human being we are met with those whom think our sh*t don't stink. Or feel offended by the way we choose to now live our life (or at least try to). Granted, some of this may simply because that person is not ready to do the work and make the change like we are, but other times it is our own ignorance in how to effectively convey our meaning, our true self, and our honest intent.

Meet Amy E. Smith. She spent years finding her voice. Burried under other people’s thoughts and opinions and notions about who she should and shouldn’t be. Amy spent years as a damn-near SLAVE (drama intended) to highly restrictive religious dogma that constantly reminded her why she wasn’t enough. She was motivated by two primary things: Guilt and fear. Fear of losing salvation. Fear of not fitting in. Fear of rocking the boat. Fear of speaking her truth and losing relationships. Guilt around following her intuition when it was in stark contrast to all the religious “rights” and “wrongs”.

So, Amy began uncovering who she REALLY was. Taking her opinions out for a spin. She searched out people and places where tapping into "ME" was applauded (aka. A shit-ton of coaching classes, trainings, and seminars). Where “right” and “wrong” always looked different. Amy started to develop her OWN sense of self. What she stood for. What she believed. And after a handful of breakdowns, she found her voice. And as it turns out it was there all along.

Amy feels VERY strongly about being educated in the field of coaching, so she has a coaching certification (CPCC designation) through The Coaches Training Institute, a well-known pioneer educational establishment in the field of coaching. (aka. NOT just a weekend, online class saying “Wheeeeee, you’re a coach now!”). Additionally, Amy is credentialed with the International Coaching Federation (ACC designation), which is currently the only governing body that oversees the coaching profession. Fancy, right? It is.

Welcome to a very special mini-series on the podcast with my graduate school, American University! I graduated from AU in 2017 with my MS in Health Promotion Management after completing my BS in Exercise Science from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2013.

Health Promotion is the science and art of helping people, organizations, and communities change lifestyle behaviors to move toward a state of improved health resulting in decreases in chronic disease and health care costs. To accomplish this objective, we must learn the science of health through the study of nutrition, biology, anatomy and physiology, and psychology combined with program planning for health promotion by learning how to assess, implement, and evaluate programs that effectively achieve the outcome of improved health.

Health promotion helps answer problems around:

  • Establishing and managing wellness programs for employees and their families
  • Developing effective media campaigns for emerging health issues
  • Helping clients achieve fitness and nutrition goals
  • Researching health policy and establishing state and national programs
  • Integrating health promotion and disease management activities into the healthcare system
  • Instituting innovative community-outreach programs
  • Advocating for health issues and promoting wellness in communities
